Gravatinha rosa

Crochet Ruffle Flower Hair-Tie
Difficulty Level: Beginner – must know how to crochet ch, sc, hdc, tr & slst.
Gauge/tension: Not important.
Size: Size varies, depending on the yarn used and crochet tension. The one in the photo is approximately 4″.
Materials & Tools:
1. Stash Yarns, about 10g -20g depends on the yarn weight. I used baby light-weight yarn.
2. Button
3. Crochet Hook, as recommended by yarn’s label. I used 4mm.
4. Scissors
5. Elastic hair band or other hair accessories you want to attach the flower to.
6. Tapestry needle, make sure needle eye (with yarn) can pass through the button hole.
7. Beads, 40 pcs. (only for beaded ruffle flower)
8. Quick drying glue, like UHU (optional)
Abbreviations (USA):
ch = chain
sc = single crochet
hdc = half double crochet
dc = double crochet
tr = treble crochet
st = stitch
slst = slip stitch
sl knot = slip knot
fo = fasten off
Crochet Pattern:
Full Blossom Ruffle Flower
Being with a sl knot

Beaded Ruffle Flower
Insert beads to the yarn
Follow R1 – R5 above.
R6 – ch4, * ch, tr on the chain loop, ch with 1 bead and slst on the top loop of the tr, ch, tr on the same loop, repeat * 10 times. Repeat 4 times to complete the 4 loops round, slst to the 4th ch at the beginning of the round.
You may do more tr to get more ruffle look on the flower.
Assembly
Sew button at the center, keep the yarn don’t cut it yet.
Sew elastic hair band or other accessories to the back, tighten, knot, cut and hide away the yarn end.
Add some quick drying glue to secure the hair band if you wish.
Note:
1.You may do more tr at the last round to get more ruffle look on the flower. Or, reduce the number of tr in each loop just in case you are running out of yarn.
2. If you find that it is difficult to insert yarn through the hole of the bead, use a small dot of pva craft glue (or mod podge) on the end of the yarn, twist the end while the glue is drying to shape a pointy tip. Let it dry for a while as it will be harder later.

R1 – ch2, sc 8 on the second chain from hook, slst on the ch at the beginning of the round.

R2 – *ch2, hdc on next st, ch2, slst onto the same st, repeat * 8 times.

R3 – ch, *sc on next st of R1, ch2, repeat * 8 times, slst on the first ch of the round. Bring the 8 chain loops to the back of the work.
or you can do the sc and ch2 directly at the back of the work.

This is the front side with loops now at the back.

This is how the back looks like after the loops are there.

R4 – ch, sc on chain loop, ch2, dc3, ch2, sc on the same loop, repeat the same on the next loop until you have done all the 8 loops.
The look after completed R4, where you have 8 petals on both layers.

R5 – ch, *sc on next st of R3, ch 5, skip next R3 st, repeat * 4 times, slst to the first ch of the round. Bring all 4 chain loops to the back of the work. Or, you can do the sc and ch5 directly to the back of the work.
The look after the loops are brought to the back.

R6 – ch4, * ch, tr on the chain loop, ch3 slst on the top loop of the tr, ch, tr on the same loop, repeat * 12 times. Repeat 4 times to complete the 4 loops round, slst to the 4th ch at the beginning of the round.

The look after completed the crochet work, fasten off the yarn and bring it to the center of the
after the loops are there.

Sew button at the center, keep the yarn don’t cut it yet.

Sew elastic hair band to the back, tighten, knot, cut and hide away the yarn end.
Add some quick drying glue to secure the hair band if you wish.

This is another version of similar layered ruffle flower pattern, just add beads and reduce the numbers of ruffle at the last round of the crochet work (refer pattern above).
